Corrosion-resistant phenolic epoxy vinyl ester resin
Atlac? 590Z offers excellent resistance to heat as well as solvents, acids and oxidizing media such as chlorine. The resin has high strength retention at elevated temperatures.
Characteristic performance
- high mechanical strength
- High Temperature Resistant Application Environments
- Resistant to corrosion by strong oxidizing media
typical application
Atlac? 590Z is a styrene solution of a phenolic modified vinyl resin with medium reactivity and medium viscosity. Atlac? 590Z has excellent high temperature stability and corrosion resistance to organic solvents, acids and oxidizing media such as chlorine, and also offers high high high temperature strength retention.Atlac? 590Z is suitable for most production processes and is particularly suited for winding, centrifugal casting, hand gluing, and spraying processes. It can also be used to formulate glass scale coatings and slurries.
Accreditations and Certificates
Cured, unreinforced Atlac? 590Z resin is classified as Type 1310 to German DIN 16946/2, Group 5 to DIN 18820/1 and Group 8 to European EN12131/2.

Process Operation Guide
- Atlac? 590Z resin is non-tacky on normally cured surfaces. To ensure that surfaces in contact with air are not sticky, suitable additives (e.g. waxes) can be added to the resin. The final cured state of the product can be treated with several hours of high temperature post-curing (120 to 150°C) to achieve optimum physical and chemical properties.
- Post-curing is highly recommended for Atlac? 590Z products intended for chemical resistance. Cyclohexanone peroxide, or CuH/Cobalt liquid curing systems are recommended. For applications below 15°C, it is recommended that a styrene solution of 10%DMA (dimethylaniline) at 0.1 to 0.51 TP3T be added as needed to improve curing efficiency.
- Atlac? 590Z resin needs to be stored in a suitable temperature and humidity environment for a constant period of time before use, and the working temperature should normally be above 15°C when using the MEKP/Co curing system.
