Does not contain any toxic ingredients
As an innovative company, we have a range of high-value new products and technologies, including our latest generation organic peroxide, Trigonox? 421, for the polymerization of acrylic resins and the production of polymer polyols, which are used in foams in upholstery and bedding.
Trigonox? 421 is an eco-friendly peroxide initiator that can replace traditional azo initiator products.
? No TMSN
? No toxic decomposition products
? Direct replacement for AIBN and AMBN
? Liquid substances, easy to meter
A new azo substitute
AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile)Used in many polymerization processes. Decomposes to form toxic tetramethylsuccinonitrile (TMSN). To address this problem, Nouryon developed Trigonox? 421, making TMSN a thing of the past.
About 4,000 tons of TMSN are produced annually by the decomposition of AIBN: Azo initiators, or more specifically AIBN, are used because of their unique properties. Decomposition produces selective C-centered free radicals of 100%. These C-centered free radicals allow for better molecular weight control compared to the aggressive O-centered free radicals usually formed from organic peroxides. This is mainly due to the lower level of branching produced. This is particularly important for high solids acrylic resin and polymer polyol applications.
In contrast to AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile), 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutylperoxy-2-ethylhexyl ester (Trigonox? 421) does not produce any toxic byproducts: Unlike most other peroxides, Trigonox? 421 produces almost exclusively selective C-radicals upon decomposition. It is therefore, like AIBN, particularly suitable for applications where controlled branching and molecular weight are important. At the same time, Trigonox? 421 has already replaced AIBN in many commercial applications, proving the above concept in practice.
Another advantage of Trigonox? 421 is that it is in liquid form. Therefore, dosing is much easier in industrial batch and continuous processes.
In summary:
? Trigonox? 421 is an alternative to AIBN
? Trigonox? 421 does not produce toxic decomposition products
? Trigonox? 421 is liquid and therefore easy to meter.
