Applications: Trigonox 21S can be used in the production of low density polyethylene for both tubular and autoclave processes. It is often used in combination with other peroxides to broaden the polymerization temperature range. It can also be used in the polymerization of styrene in combination with other initiators such as tert.Butylperoxybenzoate (Trigonox C) or tert-butyl peroxycarbonate-2-ethylhexyl (Trigonox 117). In thermosetting resin applications, it is used for medium to high temperature curing of unsaturated polyester resins.
Half-life data: Trigonox 21S has a half-life in chlorobenzene:
- 0.1 hours at 113°C
- 1 hour, 91°C
- 10 hours, 72°C
Thermal Stability: Self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) of 35°C can be used to cure unsaturated polyester resins.
Storage: Recommended maximum storage temperature is 10°C and minimum storage temperature is -30°C to prevent crystallization.
Packaging and transportation: Standard packaging is 25 kg of peroxide product in 30 liter HDPE drums. Complies with international regulations, please contact sales representative for other packaging quantities.
Security and handling: Containers are required to be kept tightly closed and storage and handling of Trigonox 21S requires a dry, well-ventilated area away from sources of heat and ignition and out of direct sunlight. Avoid weighing and dispensing in the storage room. Avoid contact with reducing agents, acids, alkalis and heavy metal compounds. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) provide detailed information on safe storage, use and handling.
Main decomposition products: Carbon dioxide, tert-butanol, heptane, etc.
