Synolite? 6494-U-2 is a DCPD based unsaturated polyester resin dissolved in styrene. The resin is pre-promoted with polymeric amines and has medium viscosity and high reactivity.

Synolite? 6494-U-2 is a versatile putty resin primarily used in the manufacture of body fillers and putties for benzoyl peroxide curing. Filler pastes made from Synolite? 6494-U-2 have excellent dry sanding capabilities and do not clog sandpaper quickly. The resin is cold cured even at about 0°C.
Main characteristics
Fillers and putties based on Synolite? 6494-U-2 allow for early dry sanding capabilities, especially on sanders. The hardness of Synolite? 6494-U-2 is equivalent to the hardness of a 4:6 combination of rigid Synolite? 9248-U-3 and flexible Synolite? 2710-U-2. Synolite? 6494-U-2 is well suited to be used as the sole binder for body fillers, accepts higher filler loadings, and shows excellent storage stability of the derived paste. It can be made stiffer by adding Synolite? 9248-U-3 and more flexible by combining with Synolite? 2710-U-2. Synolite? 6494-U-2 Putty shows good adhesion to a variety of substrates including mild steel, galvanized steel, aluminum and polyester.

Castings (4 mm) are cured with 2 wt.% BPO-50% Perkadox CH50L (AKZO Nobel). 2 hours after curing. 60°C + 2 hours. At 80°C + 2 hours. At 100°C.
