Chemical/Physical Properties

Synolite? 0542-U-2 is a DCPD based unsaturated polyester dissolved in styrene. The resin is pre-promoted with polymeric amines and has medium viscosity and medium reactivity.

Synolite? 0542-U-2 is designed for use in the manufacture of automotive refinishing putties that provide fast early cure and a tack-free surface after cure.

Main characteristics

Synolite? 0542-U-2 has medium viscosity and medium reactivity. It wets fillers well. When cured, the resin is semi-rigid, which facilitates rapid surface curing and provides high resistance to heat distortion. Polymerized amine curing systems can harden quickly at lower temperatures. In addition, staining of the coating on the putty is greatly reduced due to this state-of-the-art curing system. The storage stability of putty made from Synolite? 0542-U-2 is outstanding. Synolite? 0542-U-2 Putty exhibits very good adhesion to metal substrates, wood and polyester.

This putty resin cures with the addition of benzoyl peroxide (BPO) without the application of external heat. For soft sanding automotive refinishing putty, this semi-rigid putty resin can be mixed with the flexible resin Synolite? 5241-X-1.
