Product Description.
- Norox? MEC is a clear solution of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide/cyclohexanone peroxide for use as an initiator in unsaturated polyester resins at low and ambient temperatures.
Technical data.
- The active oxygen content does not exceed 9.0.
- Form: liquid.
- Color: Colorless and transparent.
- Specific gravity @ 25°C: 1.12.
- Viscosity @ 25°C: 18.0 cps.
- Flash Point (SETA C.C.): 170°F/77°C minimum.
- Soluble in: oxygenated organic solvents.
- Slightly soluble in: water.
Applications.
- Norox? MEC is suitable for cobalt-promoted gel and cure initiation of unsaturated polyester resins at low operating temperatures. It also exhibits excellent properties at ambient temperatures.
- It has the following advantages over the standard MEKP formula:
- Many resins have short gel-to-cure times.
- Excellent storage stability due to the absence of impurities (water, hydrogen peroxide, unreacted methyl ethyl ketone and other diluents).
- Exhibits better performance in gel coatings (the hydrophobicity of Norox? MEC provides better mixing and resin compatibility).
Packaging, Transportation and Availability.
- NOROX ? MEC is available in standard package sizes of 4x8 lb and 44 lb (20 kg) polyethylene bottles.
- Available in already colored 44 lb (20 kg) bottles.
