Product Description.

  • NOROX? 600-CL2 is a white, free-flowing powder mixture of technically pure tert-butyl cyclohexyl peroxy dicarbonate as an initiator for curing unsaturated polyester resins.

  • Appearance: White, free-flowing powder
  • Peroxide content: approx. 89.0% w/w
  • Active Oxygen Content: Approx. 3.55% w/w
  • Bulk density: approx. 0.50 kg/l
  • Melting point: < 50°C
  • Critical temperature (SADT): approx. 40°C
  • "Start-up" temperature: > 50°C
  • Recommended storage temperature: below 20°C
  • Maximum transportation temperature: 25°C
  • Maximum storage temperature: 20°C
  • Period of validity after delivery: 6 months

Applications.

  • Mainly used for the curing of unsaturated polyester resins in combination with the use of more thermally stable peroxides.
  • Usage ratio: 1-2% as supplied.
  • "Shelf life" (gel time of resin + peroxide) is a few weeks at room temperature, depending on resin type, filler and pigment.
  • The "service life" (gel time of resin + peroxide + accelerator) lasts several days in combination with more thermally stable peroxides (peroesters), depending on temperature and dosage.
  • Shelf life and service life can be significantly extended by the addition of the inhibitor BC-500 with 0.1-0.31 TP3T.

Curing Properties.

  • In the 50°C (122°F) range, the cure rate is not high unless there is an exothermic reaction (e.g., in an insulated mold).
  • Good curing properties can only be obtained by adding peroxides with higher thermal stability.

Curing Process.

  • Mainly used for pultrusion, hot press molding, wet press molding, CIPP (cured-in-place pipe), etc.

Packaging.

  • NOROX? 600-CL2 comes standard in four 11 lb. (bagged) cardboard packages.
