Applications:
- Used as a curing agent for polyester resins in a wide range of resin types with a temperature range of 130-160°C.
- Dosage: 1-2% as supplied.
- Shelf life: several months at room temperature, depending on resin type.
- Sensitive to certain fillers, pigments, cobalt salts and tertiary aromatic amines.
- Shelf life can be significantly extended with the addition of the 0.1-0.31 TP3T inhibitor BC 500.
Curing Characteristics:
- Curing in the range of 80-95°C ("starting" temperature) is slow unless there is an exothermic reaction (e.g., in an insulated mold).
- Short curing times of 1-3 minutes can only be achieved above 120°C.
- The optimal temperature range for thermocompression molding is 130-160°C.
Treatment:
- It is mainly used for sheet molding (SMC) or block molding (BMC) thermocompression molding, as well as impregnation and coil impregnation.
Half-life data:
- 10h/1h/1min (0.1 m/benzene): 100/119/160°C
