Neogel 8366 is a vinyl mold gelcoat designed for use in the manufacture of FRP molds. The special high-quality vinyl-based mold coat is also suitable for FRP products requiring high mechanical strength and corrosion and temperature resistance.

Usage characteristics

Neogel 8366 is a pre-promoted, thixotropic gelcoat. For processes such as

• Spraying Process (Neogel 8366)

When using general-purpose jetting equipment, we recommend that our customers follow the following requirements.

• Hand-held gun with 4-5 mm nozzle diameter and 4-5 Nm spray pressure
• The second coat should be applied after the first coat has fully cured (2 hours, 20°C).

In order to obtain the best results, we recommend that the customer ensures the following working conditions.

• Slowly and thoroughly mix each pail of gelcoat before use. Avoid high speed shear to bring in air bubbles.
• The ambient temperature at the time of application should be between 18°C and 25°C.
• Relative humidity below 80%.
• Use standard methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) at 1.5%-2% depending on ambient temperature. butanox M 50 (Akzo)
• The thickness of the wet film is 600-800 microns (0.6-0.8 mm).
• Adjust the pressure of the spray gun and spray 4-5 times to form the gelcoat film. During the spraying process, a thickness gauge can be used to ensure the thickness of the gelcoat film.
• Keep the distance between the spray gun and the mold at about 60 cm.
• When the gelcoat has cured (when it is sticky to the touch but not to the hand), the structural resin layer can be applied, and it can be set aside for 2-4 hours under normal circumstances.
