Half-life data:
- 10h/1h/1min (0.1 m/benzene): 54/72/110°C
Applications:
- Polymer crosslinking: peroxide crosslinker for polymers, especially silicone rubber (VMQ).
- Crosslinking temperature: above 100°C, no premature crosslinking (coking) below 60°C.
- Dosage: 1-2% of the supplied product is mixed on the material to be crosslinked. The paste form aids in mixing and homogenization.
- Crosslinking is not inhibited by oxygen, but is sensitive to carbon black and may produce polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) during crosslinking.
- Crosslinking of silicone rubber can be carried out under pressure in the temperature range 110-130°C. Subsequent post-crosslinking, which can be carried out at 150-250°C for 12-24 hours, removes acidic degradation products and improves aging resistance.
- In continuous systems, cross-linking can also be carried out from 150-400°C using hot air at atmospheric pressure. This method results in a bubble-free vulcanized rubber.
- Approved through the FDA (§ 177.2600) and BGVV (XV/3) for crosslinking of silicone rubber.
Packaging:
- Standard packaging is 20 kg plastic drum.
