United Initiators CUROX?SOLAR FC1 tert.Butylperoxy-2-ethylhexylcarbonate 34443-12-4

CUROX ? SOLAR FC1 is a colorless, flowable liquid composed primarily of technically pure tert-butyl peroxy-(2-ethylhexyl) carbonate. It is a peroxycarbonate with advantages in thermal stability and is mainly used for crosslinking ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA), especially for photovoltaic applications.

Technical data

  • Appearance: colorless
  • Peroxide content: approx. 99% w/w
  • Active oxygen content: approx. 6.43% w/w
  • No inhibitors
  • Density (20°C): approx. 0.93 g/cm3
  • Hazen maximum: 30 Hz
  • Viscosity (20°C): approx. 6 mPa-s
  • Refractive index (20°C): approx. 1.428
  • Critical temperature (SADT): approx. 70°C
  • Refrigeration stability: liquid below -30°C
  • Recommended storage temperature: not more than 30°C
  • Storage stability after delivery date (measured): 6 months

appliance

  • EVA crosslinker: For crosslinking of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA), also in combination with other peroxides with different activities.
  • Lamination temperature range: 135 - 165°C.
  • Advantages: liquid, easy dosing, mixable with other peroxides, low Hazen number and high purity, avoids any discoloration effect.

working (of machinery)

  • As a low-viscosity liquid peroxide, CUROX ? SOLAR FC1 can be pre-mixed with EVA in a drum mixer or belt mixer, or added directly to the hopper or metering area of an extruder for thermoplastic materials.
  • Due to the low softening temperature (below 100°C) of the special encapsulated EVA types, CUROX ? SOLAR peroxides are sufficiently thermally stable during the extrusion process.
  • The resulting composite material (encapsulated sheet) has long-term stability at room temperature, ensuring consistent quality over time.
  • The vacuum lamination and cross-linking process is usually carried out at about 145°C. The amount of peroxide depends on the other formulation components and can vary from 0.5 - 2% w/w on an EVA basis (see Table 1).
  • Temperature deviations have a significant effect on the crosslinking rate and may affect the final crosslinking rate.
  • CUROX ? SOLAR FC1 can be used in combination with CUROX ? SOLAR SC. In this case, the vacuum lamination/crosslinking temperature should be adjusted to the higher thermal stability of CUROX ? SOLAR SC.

wrap

  • CUROX ? SOLAR FC1 comes standard in 25 kg (55.12 lb) polyethylene cans.
