- Appearance: colorless liquid
- Active Oxygen Content: Minimum 9.0% w/w
- Desensitizer: Phthalate plastic additives
- Density (20°C): approx. 1.148 g/cm3
- Viscosity (20°C): approx. 23 mPa.s
- Solubility: insoluble in water, but soluble in phthalates
appliance::
- Main applications: As a curing agent (free radical source) for unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins.
- Types of resins suitable for curing agents: Unsaturated polyester resins, especially suitable for phthalic and isophthalic resins.
- Routine dosage: 1-3% supplied as is, with 0.5-2% of 1% cobalt solution.
- "Shelf life" (gel time of resin + peroxide) is usually only a few hours, depending on temperature and resin type.
- The "pot life" (gel time of resin + peroxide + catalyst) is relatively short, but can be extended by adding inhibitors.
- Other models are available, including the Curox M-100 and Curox M-300.
Curing Performance::
- Medium heat release and therefore relatively stress-free curing: medium mold release time.
- Low ambient temperatures can significantly slow down the full cure.
- For use at low temperatures, use Curox M-300 with polyester resins; using Curox M-100 with vinyl ester resins is also an option, but may result in a yellow-brown discoloration of the finished product.
- Commonly used accelerators may require additional additions.
Processing method::
- Particularly suitable for process methods such as handcrafting, spraying, centrifugal casting, fiber winding, resin casting as well as surface coatings (fillers, putties, gelatin layers and topcoats).
- When using spray equipment, follow the manufacturer's instructions, make sure all safety equipment is functioning properly, and do not clean the muzzle by spraying peroxide into the air.
Security and handling::
- The product should be stored in closed supply containers at temperatures below +30°C in a well-ventilated area.
- Avoid sources of ignition and high temperatures, store separately from other hazardous and incompatible substances, and avoid contamination.
- Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
- Preventive skin protection measures are recommended, and appropriate respiratory protection should be worn when necessary.
