CUROX? M-100 is a methyl ethyl ketone peroxide for the curing of unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins. The following is the main information about this product:
Appearance and properties:
- Colorless, flowable liquid containing a peroxide based on methyl ethyl ketone, desensitized by a phthalate plasticizer.
- The product is suitable for curing unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins with cobalt accelerators at room temperature.
- Oxygen content: 9.51 TP3T minimum.
- The density is about 1.148 g/cm3 and the viscosity is about 23 mPa-s.
Applications:
- Mainly used as curing agent for unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins.
- For use in combination with cobalt accelerators at room temperature, the recommended dosage is 1-3% of the supply.
- The "shelf life" is usually only a few hours, depending on the temperature and type of resin.
- The "stirring time" is relatively short, especially when phthalic acid resins are used, and can be extended by adding inhibitors.
Curing performance:
- For use with vinyl ester (VE) resins, provides shorter gel and cure times relative to the use of Curox M-200 or Curox M-300.
- Suitable for use with polyester resins for longer gel and cure times.
- The curing process is moderately hot, resulting in low internal stresses during the curing process.
- Relatively short demolding time, i.e. good demolding factor.
Processing methods:
- Particularly suitable for hand lay-ups, spray lay-ups, centrifugal casting, fiber winding, resin casting and surface coatings (fillers, putties, adhesive layers and topcoats).
Spraying equipment:
- Use manufacturer's instructions for use of spray equipment.
- Ensure that all safety devices are functioning properly.
- Do not clean the muzzle by spraying methyl ethyl ketone peroxide into the air.
Security and Handling:
- The product should be stored in closed supply containers at temperatures below +30°C.
- Keep a well-ventilated area.
- Keep away from ignition sources and heat sources (e.g. direct sunlight).
- Isolation from other hazardous and incompatible substances.
- Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
- Use proper ventilation.
- If necessary, the product vapors of vacuuming are at the point where they are generated.
- Avoid aerosol formation.
- Do not inhale vapors/aerosols.
- Wear appropriate respiratory protection if necessary.
