Description: CUROX? CM-75 is a mixture of peroxides on the basis of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and tert-butyl peroxide, with the addition of a phthalate plasticizer, yellow in color and fluid. It is mainly used as a curing agent for unsaturated polyester resins, and is particularly suitable for vinyl resins. It is mainly used in vacuum infiltration/plastic bagging technology and with cobalt or cobalt/amine accelerators for the curing of hand/spray reinforced parts at room temperature, mainly for thicker laminated products.
Technical data:
- Appearance: yellow liquid
- Active Oxygen Content: Approx. 8.81 TP3T (mass fraction)
- Hydrogen peroxide content: approximately 0.7% (mass fraction)
- Water content: approx. 1.21 TP3T (mass fraction)
- Desensitizer: Phthalates
- Density (20°C): approx. 1.1 g/cm3
- Viscosity (20°C): approx. 19 mPa-s
- Solubility: soluble with alcohols and phthalates
- SADT: above 60°C
- Refrigeration stability: below -20°C
- Recommended storage temperature: 0°C to 30°C
- Retention time (from 30°C, from date of manufacture): 6 months.
Applications:
- For curing of unsaturated polyester resins in combination with cobalt/cobalt-amine accelerators at room temperature.
- Suggested dosage: 1-2.51 TP3T (as supplied) in combination with 0.5-21 TP3T of 11 TP3T cobalt solution.
- Limited applicability to vinyl resins, can be used in combination with cobalt octanoate/xylenolamine for a stronger accelerating effect.
- The "latency" (gel time of resin + peroxide + accelerator) can be long enough for vacuum penetration/injection molding.
Curing performance:
- Depending on the type of resin, less heat release and thin/thick layers ensure better curing speed.
- The unsaturated polyester resin had a longer gel time and gel-to-peak time than the standard methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (Curox M-303).
- Temperatures below 20°C significantly extend the curing time, at which point cobalt/amine accelerators should be used.
Processing methods:
- Hand lamination, spray lamination, fiber winding, penetration processes and especially RTM (Resin Transfer Molding).
Spraying equipment:
- Use spray equipment that meets manufacturer's instructions.
- Ensure that all safety devices are functioning properly.
- Do not clean the gun by spraying peroxide into the air.
Standard Packaging: The standard package size for CUROX? CM-75 is a 25 kg polyethylene bottle.
