Product Description:

• BENOX? C-50 is a white, free-flowing granular powder containing benzoyl peroxide, 50%, and a phthalate plasticizer.
• It is used as a hardener for unsaturated polyester resins and acrylic resins, and is suitable for both high-temperature curing and room-temperature curing (with amine accelerators) processes.

Technical data:

• The benzoyl peroxide content was 501 TP3T and the reactive oxygen content was 3.301 TP3T.
• Appears as a white free-flowing powder with a "start-up" temperature of 70°C.
• The half-life temperature (in 0.1 mole of benzene) is 72°C.
• Recommended storage temperature does not exceed 30°C. Soluble in phthalates, insoluble in water.
• The time to remain active is 6 months from the date of delivery.

Areas of application:

• Ambient Cure: Typically used in quantities of 2% - 5%, together with 1% - 3% of an amine accelerator (usually 10% dimethylaniline solution in phthalate) on a mass basis in the resin.
• CAUTION: Do not mix BENOX directly with amine accelerators as this will cause violent decomposition.
• High temperature curing: BENOX can be used alone or in combination with other high temperature curing peroxides.
• In some specific resin systems, BENOX exhibits relatively fast curing speeds and moderate to high exotherms in most resin systems, resulting in short demolding times.

Storage and packaging:

• It is recommended that BENOX be stored in its original container away from flammable materials and all sources of heat, sparks or open flames, out of direct sunlight, as well as away from cobalt-naphthalene acids, anilines, other accelerators, oxidizing or reducing agents, and strong acids or bases.
• The standard packing size is 25 kg polyethylene bags in cardboard boxes.
