Ground powder of bisphenol A fumarate polyester
Atlac? 382 powder is a milled powder of propoxy bisphenol A fumarate polyester. It is readily soluble in reactive monomer solvents such as styrene and becomes an unsaturated polyester resin.50% (w/w) of Atlac? 382 powder in styrene is known as Atlac? 382. (See "Dissolution of Atlac? 382 Powder" for details).
Characteristic performance
- Resistant to hot water, acid and salt solutions at higher temperatures
- Resistant to medium temperature alkali solutions
- Good weather resistance
typical application
Atlac? 382 is suitable for most production processes, especially for winding, centrifugal casting, hand gluing and spraying. It can also be used to formulate glass scale coatings and slurries.
Atlac? 382 Powder is suitable for a wide range of processes with room temperature curing. For example, hand lay-up, winding, spraying, cold molding and RTM.
accreditation
Cured, unreinforced Atlac? 382 resin is classified as Type 1310 to German DIN 16946/2, Group 5 to DIN 18820/1 and Group 6 to European EN12131/2.

Dissolution of Atlac? 382 Powder
Atlac? 382 resin can be obtained by dissolving Atlac? 382 powder in styrene at a ratio of 50% (w/w, weight ratio). The dissolution method varies depending on the type of disperser used.
1. When using a Cowless high-speed disperser, first add all the styrene to the dissolution tank. Turn on the agitation and pour in Atlac? 382 powder as soon as possible until dissolved.
2. When a propeller type mixer is selected, first add half of the styrene to the dissolving tank and turn on the mixer. Slowly add Atlac? 382 powder under continuous vortex. Add the remaining half of styrene when finished and continue to stir until dissolved.
It is recommended that a small amount of polymerization inhibitor be added to the styrene prior to the addition of Atlac? 382 powder. (e.g. p-tert-butyl catechol).
The dissolution of Atlac? 382 powder in styrene can be accelerated if the dissolution temperature is slowly increased to 50 °C.
To adjust the gel time of the resin, solutions of dimethylaniline and cobalt salts can be used. Specific solutions can be found in the Atlac Resin Industrial Preservation Manual for gel characteristics at different ratios.
